Montalto Estate Cuvée One 2016

Montalto Estate Cuvée One 2016 is made in the traditional method from the classic blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Subtle fruit qualities of green apple and strawberry combine with brioche notes from yeast autolysis. The mix of varieties and extended lees ageing has resulted in a complex bouquet. The Chardonnay component sings with citrus and white flowers, the Pinot Noir brings strawberries and red fruits while the winemaking and lees handling introduces a whole new level of complexity by way of bready and yeast aromas. There is plenty of richness upfront supported by a creamy mid-palate with lots of mouth feel. Tangy naturally acidity provides line, length and freshness. A perfect dry sparkling wine to enjoy as an aperitif and for all kinds of celebrations!

Montalto Estate Pinot Gris 2019

2019 delivered purity in spades. Florals, lychee, talc and spice combine with seashell, apple and honeysuckle with a faint yeasty complexity. The palate is supple with an abundance of primary fruit and a generous and textured mouth feel. This is a rich, yet fresh and elegant wine, with an expressive aftertaste.

Montalto Estate Chardonnay 2018

The Estate Chardonnay is traditionally built on a core of citrus fruit (lime, lemon, tangerine and grapefruit), but in 2018 the warmer season added an extra layer of white fleshed stone fruits. Wet stone, white florals, a lick of sulphides and spicy oak all chime in to play their part. The influence of French oak adds to the chewy richness and mouth feel of the wine, before finishing with bright and energetic natural acidity.

Montalto Estate Pinot Noir 2019

Red and black cherry are the hallmark fruit qualities in the 2019 Estate Pinot Noir. Combine this with notes of black tea, blood orange, florals, spice, earth, dried herbs and forest floor, with a lick of mocha oak and the result is a formidable and complex aroma profile. With the warmer 2019 season, they upped the ante with whole-bunch work to build in some additional aromatics and savoury qualities. The sweet fruit is harnessed by some structural ripe tannin which carries the length of the palate and is supported by bright natural acidity and a long and savoury finish.

Portsea Estate Wines - Estate Range

The Portsea Estate vineyard is located on the century old Tintagel property overlooking Bass Strait at the very tip of Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, in south east Australia. Its unique ‘terroir’ derives from extensive limestone deposits and a top soil of calcareous sand and humus collected over thousands of years.

The free draining, limestone rich soils provide ideal conditions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to thrive and have produced complex, layered wines of distinct character and minerality.

2019 Estate Chardonnay

Hints of salty brine, ripe apricot and peach with subtle tropical fruits adding further aromatic complexity. The palate is textural with lovely balanced acidity and a touch of French oak that delivers length and structure.

2019 Estate Pinot Noir

The 2019 Estate Pinot Noir was made with 15% whole bunch fermentation, enhancing aromatic lift and tannin. The stems add a touch of star anise spice which compliments the the wines’ aromas of maraschino cherry, fresh liquorice, strawberries and Portsea Estate’s typical maritime savoury character unique to their site.
